Top 10 access control products of 2015

The second installment in asmag.com's 2015 top 10 security products focuses on access control products. Once again, the top 10 products have been chosen based on click rate from asmag.com.

To qualify for the top 10, the products on this list all adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The product must have been uploaded to the asmag.com database between Dec. 2014 and Dec. 2015.

  • The product may fall under the category of reader, controller, software, or lock; however, the main purpose must be for security/access control purposes.

Access control trends for 2015 were predicted to include increased adoption of mobile credentials, a rise in wireless online electronic locks, and continued gradual adoption of IP-enabled panels and smart card readers, according to IHS. Based on asmag.com user click rate, many of these trends can be seen in our top 10.

Another growing trend is biometrics. The growing interest in biometric solutions in 2015 is strongly reflected in the top 10, with 4 out of 10 falling into the biometric category. It is estimated the global fingerprint access control systems market will reach US$4.4 billion by 2022, according to Grand View Research. With the number of high profile terror cases in 2015, it is no surprise that interest in more secure access control equipment, including biometric technology, is on the rise.
